Have You Spent PP for the Recipe?

Have You Spent PP for the Recipe?

Greetings, Pandora Saga adventurers!

Today, the ATLUS ONLINE blog wanted to feature the Recipe: Wing Shield Vol. 1 promotion because, let’s face it, this shield is a sweet deal.

On the far reaches of Pandora, an angel fell from the sky. The ancients gathered pieces of her hagaromo, then fashioned a legendary shield. While the original Wing Shield’s been lost to time, the secrets of its design yet remain…

From 5/8 to 5/22, if you spend 7,000 Pandora Points within a single maintenance period, you qualify for an exclusive recipe for the off-hand loot of a lifetime! This offer’s limited to one item per account, per week, so big spenders who cashed in for today’s maintenance can spend another 7,000 PP to qualify for a second recipe.

You’ll have to get your hands dirty with the awesomeness of Pandora Saga’s Crafting System to reap the rewards of this event… But it’s so worth it! If you haven’t gotten into the crafting systems for our free MMORPGs, now’s the time. You could be one of the first to unveil the “Big Success” from the Wing Shield’s ancient tome!

Pair up this feathery beast with your favorite one-handed weapon, from a fully grown Galatyn to a pimped out Arondight. Regardless of your success rate, you’ll get a shield worth treasuring!

You tell us! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • Is this your new favorite-looking shield in Pandora Saga? If not, which shield is your favorite?
  • Have you taken advantage of the Crafting System in free MMORPG Pandora Saga? What’s your favorite part of crafting?
  • Feathers or fur?

Formations | Behind the Scenes

Formations | Behind the Scenes

The open beta for the next ATLUS ONLINE no download game is just around the corner. But before you relaunch into the stars, read on for an insider peek at commander formations.

Look to the stars—the “real world” ones

All of these formations have something in common:

  • 3-ship formation Triangulum
  • 4-ship formation Piscis Austrinus
  • 5-ship formation Lynx
  • 6-ship formation Phoenix
  • 7-ship formation Leo

We know what you’re thinking—”Lynx and Leo = cat!” But that’s not the theme we’re looking at. Our no-download sci-fi game is inspired by the constellations found in our “real world” starscape!

Leo is one of the popular constellations of the zodiac; most spacegoers recognize the name. But Piscis Austrinus is also a constellation—from the southern celestial hemisphere—named in ancient times. In Latin, it means “the southern fish.” The Lynx is a 17th-century constellation coined by Johannes Hevelius.

Star formations are from another galaxy

The star formations, such as ★ Whirlpool and ★ Cartwheel, originate from a different source. These rare formations are named after galaxies; there’s even a 6-ship formation called ★ Milky Way.

To unlock these formations, players must gather Honor Medals, then use the “Formation Reset.” They occur rarely, and that’s just as well… There are hundreds of constellations for every galaxy.

You tell us! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • Do you know where the constellations “Triangulum” and “Phoenix” originated?
  • Did you recognize any other themes while playing the Closed Alpha or Beta of BattleSpace?
  • If you could name a constellation shaped like a circle, what would you call it?

Newb Diary | Gryphons vs. Dragons

Newb Diary | Gryphons vs. Dragons

Not gonna lie—blue is an epic color. Which is why when this Flailing Monkey jumped into my first no download game, I ended up with gryphons.

I was convinced these were the hot, new thing; gryphons were why I continued to play Knights of the Sky. Gryphon-based Heroes were why I checked the Tavern every day. (Hey, we all have our weird perks that attract us to games.)

You can imagine the horror when I walked by a Federation tester’s desk. “What is this?” I asked. “You have dragons?

“Oh yeah,” he replied. “They’re amazing.”

This was a newb’s oversight. I’d gotten so engrossed in my gryphon army—the whole no download game experience and all—I hadn’t considered the possibility of other equivalently amazing units.

If you’re part of the Empire, get ready for dragon action. If you’re in the Federation…

How are you living without gryphons?

Gryphon units provide distinct advantages in the Knights of the Sky strategy game system:

  • Mobility—take out those back row units with ease
  • Defense—while not as high as infantry, golems, etc., it’s an improvement to other units that attack long-ranged, such as casters
  • Hotness—no other unit looks cooler on the battlefield!
I’ve gotten reports from our more veteran Knights of the Sky staff that if you level your gryphons high enough, they come equipped with a shiny chestplate. Yowza!

My dragon, it’s better than yours…

Dragons are so pimpin’, you can’t help but like them, even when they’re kicking your butt.

Like the gryphons, the moment I steeped myself in the Federation, my sole purpose was working towards that full-fledged dragon army. It might not be the most strategic way to go about things, but picture the intimidation factor.

If you haven’t tried it out yet, give the flying army a go! And it never hurts to create a second ATLUS ONLINE account to give the other side a whirl.

You tell us! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • Everyone knows pirates are better than ninjas, but what about gryphons vs. dragons?
  • What unit(s) do you rely on in Knights of the Sky?
  • What do you look for in the perfect Hero?

Trivia with GIANTBABBY | MegaTen Event

Trivia with GIANTBABBY | MegaTen Event

Holy Jack Frosts, we recently hosted our first GM-sponsored MegaTen event! It warrants a double-whammy for this week’s Demon Diary. If you didn’t get in on the action last Monday, the ATLUS ONLINE blog is here to give you the skinny.

The trivia questions have nothing to do with MegaTen and everything to do with being awesome. The event gives new and veteran players alike the chance to get to know our GM team. Even if you started Shin Megami Tensei Imagine today, you can take part in excitement like:

Newb Diary | First Ten Minutes of MegaTen

Newb Diary | First Ten Minutes of MegaTen

Hey there, ATLUS ONLINE fans!

I’m documenting the first ten minutes of playing MegaTen. I think I’m one of the last ATLUS ONLINE peeps to give this a go! It’s my hope this will help newbs try out ATLUS ONLINE’s Shin Megami Tensei free MMORPG. It should also refresh veterans on the wonders of first-time experiences in MegaTen!

Let’s start by downloading the launcher and letting it patch.

I clicked Create a New Account, thinking I was making a new character… Whoops! Oh, there we are—PLAY GAME!

So I’m going to pretend like I didn’t waste eight minutes selecting an outfit for my character. This was a crux when I played our other free MMORPG, Pandora Saga. The real ten minutes happen after I hit ‘OK’!

Inexperienced puppies that refer to themselves as “me”? Bring it on!

Thank goodness you can move the character and camera with the mouse. I don’t do well with all these free MMORPGs on the market that demand the keyboard to move. (I’m left-handed. Who designs these things without keybinding options to help us out?)

I’m also in love with how this game has an arrow built in to tell you where to go. I get distracted by all the ATLUS ONLINE explosions, so I need something to keep me on track.

Oh, hey, it’s a custom art loading screen. I’ve heard about these.

I think I have a fascination with this demon dog.

I continue heading through the corridor, following the tutorial instructions until… I run into slimes! Combat within the first ten minutes of a free MMORPG? Yes, there’s potential!

The combat system seems to give me intuitive controls over my character, yet offers the ease of clicking “1″.

As I headed further in, I ran into will’o'wisps that required “2,” or a charging tactic. Then I get to loot some cool trash.

And that’s the first ten minutes! This game is ripe with story, like all the other Shin Megami Tensei titles, so I spent a good portion of the time talking to NPCs and watching cut scenes. It gets to the action quick enough to give new players a solid feel of the gameplay, though.

For ATLUS ONLINE fans looking to try out a free MMORPG, I recommend MegaTen. It had me engaged throughout Tuesday. ;) Not one of those titles that I downloaded and had regrets about!

You tell us! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • What was your first experience like in MegaTen?
  • Are you a fan of other Shin Megami Tensei games? Which one is your favorite?
  • Was this 10-minute brief of MegaTen helpful?

State of the Nations | Fragmented Wars

State of the Nations | Fragmented Wars

Today marks the second State of the Nations for the official ATLUS ONLINE blog. Let’s see how the nations fared compared to last week.

The charts are deceptive! While Kingdom had a balanced amount of attendees throughout the week—and the highest attendance overall—Varik and Empire were balanced, yet disjointed. On Wednesday, Varik suffered low attendance; and on Thursday and Sunday, Empire came with lower numbers.

This is to be expected from a free MMORPG that attracts players from around the world, bringing along their different schedules and commitments! Kingdom took victories most of the week, although Varik had a moment of glory on Thursday. Great job to everyone who brought their A-game to Clash of the Nations, especially the victorious Kingdom!

Invasion of the Zealots wasn’t as balanced as we’d experienced last week. Despite Empire bringing less numbers, they took out more Zealots than Kingdom, the highest-attendance nation! Great job, Latugans. This turn of events brought you into the War of Dominion against the noble Varik Confederation. This is the kind of on-your-seat excitement ATLUS ONLINE loves to see in their free MMORPGs!

Even though Empire made an epic comeback in the Invasion, they weren’t able to defeat the valiant defenders of Varik in the War of Dominion. Kudos to both sides, and grats to Varik for seizing victory!

In the Siege of Sieghelm, Kingdom destroyed the attendance charts, then claimed a decisive victory! Varik and Empire weren’t without their warriors, so congrats to all the adventurers who attended the battlefield.

What’s the conclusion? Kingdom can bring on the numbers—and those numbers translate to victories—but all nations had a chance in the spotlight! Latugan made a comeback during the Invasion, and Varik rocked the Dominion. We hope all the nations enjoyed the wars of the past and the battles yet to come!

You tell us! We’d love to hear your thoughts.

  • Are wars your favorite part of ATLUS ONLINE’s free MMORPG, Pandora Saga? If not, what makes you log online?
  • What kinds of ATLUS ONLINE events would bolster war attendance? Remember Pandora Saga is a free MMORPG, so “Free Charge Shop items!” isn’t the answer.
  • Can you say Siege of Sieghelm ten times in a row while holding your tongue?
